Don Reviews "Nobody 2"

ree

There are those moments we have growing up that will always be special to us, like family vacations which for me involved going to the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming.  We would go in the winter to ski and snowmobile and in the summer do the fishing, miles away from civilization, and those memories keep me wanting to return, and that is one aspect to Nobody 2.

This sequel to the 2021 film is directed by Timo Tjahjanto (V/H/S and V/H/S/94). Bob Odenkirk returns with Chrsitopher Lloyd, Connie Nielsen, Gage Munroe, and Paisley Cadorath, joined by Sharon Stone.  It has been some time since the events of Nobody, and Hutch (Odenkirk) is using his past tools as an assassin to carry out missions as a result of those events. As these missions start to take a toll on his married and family life, Hutch decides to take his family on a vacation to the place he went to on vacation as a child.  Once there, more things happen that wind up with Hutch and his family getting caught into a situation that only a guy like him can get them out of.

As a fair warning: this film is not for everyone, as it is your basic mindless action flick with the family element added in. It does remind me of The Equalizer a bit mixed in with one of the Vacation films with some action that is good but does not measure up to a John Wick quality.  In its favor, there is the right amount of action and comedy that works that even had a lot of laugher from the audience I saw it with when the bad guys get theirs.  From a quality standpoint, I will still take a film like John Wick or Free Fire over this.

The acting was fine for this type of film, but I really liked Sharon Stone in this in a role that was different and more interesting in comparison to a lot of things she has done in the past.  The film also looks great with even a bit of 1980s to it that worked in a run time that is just ab out the same at the first one of around ninety minutes.  Also like Nobody, you have to go in with some suspension of disbelief due to the nature of some of the more violent scenes,k but it is not as bad as others I have seen.  Nobody 2 is simply a fun movie, so I will recommend it to be seen as a weekend matinee in a theater near you.
